The
Somerset Region in South East Queensland covers a large area including the main
towns of Fernvale, Lowood, Esk, Toogoolawah and Kilcoy. Discover the heritage
of the region in these and other small towns throughout the region.
The Region
is also known as the Valley of the Lakes and the area includes the upper and
mid sections of the Brisbane River. Visits to the Lakes at Wivenhoe Dam,
Somerset Dam and Atkinson Dam provide opportunities for fishing and boating or
just relaxing in the day areas with a picnic. Camping facilities are available
at each of the Dams.
Discover
the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail by walking, riding a bicycle, or riding a horse,
following the path of the old Brisbane Valley Rail Line.
Enjoy a
relaxing stay in the region at a farm stay or retreat, or try a stay at one of
the camping areas, caravan parks, motels or hotels.
Within the
region are some fantastic cafes and restaurants. Relax and chat over a coffee
or enjoy the dining experience.
The region
also boasts a number of boutique wineries to visit, sample the wines, and enjoy
their hospitality.

Latest News
Three new sections of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail have now been officially opened.
The new sections are Wenora to Fernvale 7.6 Km, Lowood to Coominya 12 Km, and Esk to Toogoolawah 19 Km.
